Here’s a step-by-step approach to our Search Process. 

1 - Consultation

We begin with a thorough “job intake” process, preferably face to face at your place of business so we can observe your operations. We’ll get to know your company and its culture, we’ll discuss the accounting, finance or banking role you need to fill and we'll talk about the qualifications and skills the candidate must have to ensure success at your organization.

At the same time, you get to meet your dedicated recruitment consultant in person, allowing for a more tailored and personal business relationship.

2 - Search

Your consultant will then begin the search process internally by tapping into the networks of all the other recruitment consultants on our team to find candidates suitable for the mandate. We also search through our massive database and scour the “hidden marketplace” for other potential candidates that meet your requirements.

This is where our collaborative approach, tenure and specialization in the accounting and finance industry helps us conduct a thorough search in a very short period of time.

3 - Candidate Assessment and Shortlist Presentation

Suitable candidates are then comparatively assessed and a shortlist is prepared. Each candidate we shortlist has been interviewed in person by a recruitment consultant at The Mason Group to ensure they have the relevant technical skills for the job and personality for your company culture.

When a shortlist is presented, we always include a short bio describing each candidate’s profile. Alternatively or additionally, we can walk you through the profiles of each one of the selected candidates in a phone or in-person meeting. 

4 - Interview Process

After presentation of the shortlist, we arrange and coordinate the interviews, ensuring minimal disruption to the hiring manager. We obtain feedback from all parties and manage communication with the candidate in a manner that respects both your professional integrity as well as the candidate’s. 

Depending on your needs, we can also arrange for these interviews to take place at any of our Toronto or Vancouver offices.

5 - Background Check and Offer Management

Once you express serious interest in one or more of the interviewed candidates, we conduct thorough references and background checks (upon request) to ensure there are no significant concerns.

When you’re ready to make an offer, we formalize our terms of engagement with both you and the successful candidate. Throughout this process we provide consistent and transparent updates to the hiring manager.

6 - Placement Follow Up

After a candidate has been placed at your organization, we follow up to ensure the placement was successful. In the case of contract assignments, we regularly stay in touch with both the client and the candidate to ensure any concerns are addressed so we can mutually work towards successful completion of the engagement.

7 - Placement Guarantee
