Our client is currently recruiting a Financial Analyst to support these initiatives, and be a critical member of the Finance Team.

 

The Financial Analyst role focuses on accounting and financial activities for the organization. The role primarily interacts within the department but will also interact with various inquiries from other departments.   The role will administer and maintain finance/accounting activities in accordance with company policies, procedures and best practices in financial management. Activities include:

  • Responsibility for payroll preparation and reconciliation
  • Preparation of applicable journal entries and financial adjustments as needed
  • Preparation of sales tax reports and submit to Canada Revenue Agency in a timely manner
  • Vacation tracking/reconciliation for (and communication with) staff
  • Review of monthly bank reconciliation and provide explanation for outstanding items
  • Retrieval of data from systems and use information to prepare various financial analyses/reports; generate relevant, value-added observations/conclusions and share results with supervisor(s)
  • Interaction with and some supervisory duties of the Accounts Payable function (including performing this function in a back-up role from time to time)
  • Cash receipting as required
  • Cost-assigning expenses and working with Grant Specialist
  • Review, process, track and report out on grants/contracts

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
  • CPA designation or enrollment in an accredited accounting designation program
  • 3+ years' related experience or equivalent combination
  • Experience with GAAP
  • Experience using automated accounting and database systems
  • Experience with external payroll vendors
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
